It’s Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and this is what my refrigerator looks like. It’s dark and could use some editing but you get the point. My refrigerator is ridiculous.
I cooked a 12-pound turkey for six people and the turkey looked too small. Normally I cook a 15-18 pound turkey. This looked like a baby turkey. And I still cooked stuffing, cranberry sauce, yams. We had scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole and a bunch of desserts.
So after everyone gorged themselves on food the leftovers went into the fridge. I have enough food to feed a bunch of teenagers for days. I’ll take that turkey carcass and boil it for a day to make bone broth and eventually soup. We are well fed and nobody better go hungry.
Our first world problem is that we have no room for another thing in the fridge. People in other countries (and yes in our own) are hungry right now – and I can’t figure out where to put another leftover container. I am humbled and thankful for what we have. Life is good. We are blessed. Amen.
